When I started blogging, I didn't seriously consider myself a writer; I lacked the confidence and self belief in my written word. But a lot can change in a short space of time....
In 2012, and again in 2013, my musings on Older Mum in a Muddle were nominated for the Best MADS Blog Writer. Older Mum in a Muddle was also shortlisted as a blog to watch in 2013 by A New Generation, and made the semi-final shortlist in the Lifestyle category of the Britmums Brilliance in Blogging awards, The Bibs.
I've had a few short stories published in 100 Little Words on Parenthood, complied by Charlie Plunkett...
...And I'm currently writing my first novel, Four Gigs under my pseudonym Sadie Hanson. Here's a synopsis (of sorts);
I don’t need the light to feel alive. All I need is the record groove, and my headphones, and the sweaty charge of an army of clubbers pulling shapes in an underground burrow, where the only illumination is the knife-like punctuation of a strobe and the inhaled tips of cigarettes and spliffs, to make the blood pump hard, over the limit, through every cell of my body.
Jessica Dance is a talented and in-demand club DJ loaded with records and too much ambition. Then she finds herself with the wrong record box, and its contents send her on a journey into her past – to the heart of an accident – that forces her to question her career, her relationships, and herself.
Regular readers to my blog have described my writing as honest, evocative, descriptive and beautiful. Some of my best writing can be found in the Once Upon a Time posts which are essentially a personal memoir, and One Week, a creative writing and photography linky. I've also given a humorous reworking to a number of children's favourites; We're Going On a Bear Hunt, Stick Man and The Gruffalo.
In the meantime, here's a series of short fictional stories. These have evolved from weekly prompts which have served to steer the plot and character in all manner of direction.
